Jackie Lacey:District Attorney Jackie Lacey has spent most of her professional life as a prosecutor, manager and executive in the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. On Dec. 3, 2012, she was sworn in as the 42nd District Attorney. She was re-elected four years later without opposition.Her top priority is keeping the streets of Los Angeles County safe from violent and dangerous criminals. She is committed to safeguarding our children from human sex traffickers, our seniors from financial elder abuse and our communities from environmental crimes that threaten our health and our livelihood.District Attorney Lacey has worked with business leaders on how best to protect consumers from computer network intrusions that jeopardize our bank accounts and credit ratings. She also remains committed to prosecuting government officials who violate the public’s trust.A Los Angeles native and graduate of the University of Southern California Law School, District Attorney Lacey leads the largest local prosecutorial office in the nation, with a workforce of approximately 1,000 lawyers, 300 investigators and 800 support staff employees.She is the first woman and first African-American to serve as Los Angeles County District Attorney since the office was established in 1850.Mrs. Lacey will presenting the incoming Board Members of West Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce with their certificates.Jeffrey Prang:On December 1, 2014, Jeffrey Prang was sworn in as the 27th Assessor for the County of Los Angeles. Mr. Prang was elected to serve a four year term.Born in Detroit and raised in Warren, Michigan, Assessor Jeffrey Prang is a graduate of James Madison College at Michigan State University with a B.A. in International Relations, where he played the trombone in the Michigan State Marching Band. In 2004, Mr. Prang completed the Program for Senior Executives in Local and State Government at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.Professionally, Jeffrey Prang is a State Board of Equalization licensed appraiser, an Executive Committee member of the California Assessors’ Association (CAA), and an active member of the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) and the Society of Auditor-Appraisers (SAA). Before his election as Assessor, Jeff Prang served as a member of the Executive Staff in the Los Angeles County Office of the Assessor.Mr. Prang previously served as Assistant City Manager for the City of Pico Rivera; Senior Advisor to the Los Angeles County Sheriff; Deputy to State Board of Equalization Chair, and current State Treasurer, John Chiang; Director of Public Information, City of Los Angeles Department of Animal Services; Press Deputy to Los Angeles City Council President Ruth Galanter; and Special Assistant to Los Angeles County Assessor Kenneth P. Hahn. In 1993, Mr. Prang completed the Los Angeles County Assessor’s Real Estate Appraisal Training program. Mr. Prang began his career as a Realtor with Re/Max Realty in Warren, Michigan.Mr. Prang served nearly 18 years as a councilmember for the City of West Hollywood, including four terms as mayor. Additionally, Mr. Prang has served on several key boards and commissions, including the Santa Monica Bay Restoration Commission, Los Angeles County Library Commission and as Chair of the Los Angeles County Sanitation District - District 4, and the Los Angeles County Sanitation District Finance Authority. Jeffrey Prang lives in Baldwin Hills with his partner Ray Vizcarra, who is the instrumental music director at Redondo Union High School.A long time friend of West LA Chamber of Commerce, Mr, Jeffrey Prang will be attending as special guest to present the outgoing Chamber Board Members with certificates.
